Because the foot is three-dimensional, any two-dimensional measuring tool, such as a ruler or Brannok device®, can only approximate your true shoe size. Please also keep in mind that sizing may vary slightly between manufacturers.
Make sure you are standing and wearing the socks or stockings you will wear with your new shoes or boots. Place your heel against a straight edge. Place a ruler beside your foot and measure from the straight edge at your heel to the tip of your longest toe. Using one of the following charts, convert your inch or centimeter measurement to your shoe size.
Note: It's very common for one foot to be slightly larger than the other. Be sure to measure both feet and use the larger size to ensure comfort.
Properly fit boots should be snug in the instep, arch and ball of foot. Heel slippage is normal for a good fit. Boots will ‘break in’ and conform to your foot.
